Knox Automobile Co.

The Knox company's trophy display. Photo undated.
The "Klaw & Ehrlanger Theatre Trophy" was won by Fred Shaw in what was billed as the "amateur" race at the New Orleans Mardi Gras Races on February 7, 1910.
Barney Oldfield also drove a Knox in the "professional" races, dominating the event.
It was a good day for Oldfield, Shaw and Knox.

More recent photo of the trophy bowl as shown in the Knox trophy display picture (first shelf, center). It reads:
"1908(?) Hill Climb, Hotel Aspinwall, Lenox, Mass."

This photo is from the Detroit Public Library digital collection and included for historical reasons. The photo was taken at the 1909 Boston Auto Show. There is no indication of whose collection it is but the largest cup in the display case and the Klaw & Ehrlanger trophy look very similar to the corresponding trophies in the Knox collection. A reasonable assumption is that Knox would brought their "bragging rights" from Springfield to the Boston Auto Show (Knox is known to have attended the show).
