LINKS AND BOOKS

Here are useful links for learning more about early automobile racing. These resources consistently provided good information when doing research for the Knox Racing site:

Detroit Public Library, National Automotive History Collection
A massive collection of early automotive photographs including many races and other competitive events.

The First Super Speedway
This is a great site with extensive detail on pre-1920 racing history. It is self-described as is the largest on-line archive of primary research about pre-1920 auto racing history in the world. Visit the site and you'll agree.

The Old Motor
An on line vintage car magazine with a wealth of information and a good search function to help you find what you're looking for.

Vanderbilt Cup Races
An outstanding site with very detailed information about the Vanderbilt Cup Races. The site goes well beyond its central focus and you can get on the weekly email list for very informative updates.

ChampCarStats.com
A ton of detailed stats covering all periods of racing. Don't let the name fool you, there are plenty of stats pre-World War 1.

The Revs Institute
Most of the Revs Institute resources are focused on the period after World War 1, and particularly the 1950's and later. Still a great site well worth a visit.

American Automobile Association (AAA)
The sanctioning body of most early American racing.
